Achieve Success Now at Any Age as a Virtual Assistant
Mar 24, 2025
If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking, “Maybe I’m too old to start something new,” I want to stop you right there.
Because here’s what I know from experience: age isn’t a barrier—it’s a superpower.
I launched my VA business, RocketGirl Solutions, at 50. That was over a decade ago, and if I had to start again today at 64? No hesitation. I’d do it in a heartbeat.
And I wouldn’t be alone. I’ve had students in their 40s, 50s, 60s—even 70s—launch and grow thriving VA businesses.
Why? Because becoming a Virtual Assistant isn’t about being the youngest, fastest, or most tech-savvy person in the room. It’s about being reliable, resourceful, and ready to learn.
Back when I was job hunting in 2010, I quickly realized things had changed—and so had I. I didn’t want to ask permission to take time off. I didn’t want to be told how much I could earn. I wanted freedom, flexibility, and a life that worked for me, not the other way around.
And I found that as a Virtual Assistant.
Here’s the truth: you don’t need to be a tech wizard. You don’t need a corporate background or a perfect résumé. You just need a willingness to learn, a can-do attitude, and the life experience that most clients crave but don’t know how to ask for.
Think about it—your ability to manage details, communicate clearly, and follow through on your word? That’s gold to a busy business owner.
So if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines, unsure whether it’s “too late” to get started, I want to encourage you: you’re right on time.
This is a career that grows with you, fits your life, and rewards maturity, focus, and commitment. You get to choose your clients, set your rates, and build a business that reflects your values and lifestyle.
Starting something new can feel intimidating. But every successful VA I know—including me—started out unsure.
And every single one is glad they took the leap.
So go ahead—rewrite the story you’ve been telling yourself. The best chapters might still be ahead.
